Often described derogatorily as a hairdressers car (though I don’t see how that is an insult) the snippy Mazda MX-5 is getting a resurgence in popularity of late. If you want a smart little sports car that is easy to drive and won’t completely break the bank then the MX-5 is perfect for you.
Not only that , thanks to BBR, Mazda’s leading tuning specialists, you can now upgrade your trusty little MX-5 with a Stage 1 Turbo Kit. The kit which bumps the MX-5 up to 60mph in just 5 seconds will set you back a cool £4,995 if you have it installed for you. If you’re a dab hand yourself, you can knock £600 off the cost by doing it yourself…not advised unless you really do know what you’re doing!
The conversion is fully reversible so if you find that you don’t like the twin-scroll turbo and reinforced plumbing you can have your affectively quaint little roadster back just as she was, just make sure you do it within the warranty period!
But if you want to go up against the F-type supercars in your zippy little bijou beauty then stick with the kit which will take you up to an easy 155mph.
So will this makeover change people’s perceptions of the often ridiculed Mazda or will it always be considered the car for the coiffer?
