The Vulcan is intended for the track only and is a serious contender for the McLaren P1. It V12 engine delivers 820bhp and can achieve 0 – 60mph in just 2.9 seconds.
There will only be 24 of these models built at a whopping £1.8 million each.
This is inspired by the One-77 and the brainchild of David King the Director of Advanced Operations and Motorsport and Fraser Dunn, the chief engineer of Aston’s Q Advanced Engineering division and the vision was to create a much faster race car. The popular gossip is that every division at Aston Martin was excited about the news and wanted to have a say in the design. Therefore the idea of sticking with a 7.3 ltr V12 was dropped and instead a 6.0 ltr V12 from the Vantage GT3 was modified with the intention of creating over 800bhp. The boys did well indeed!
The car’s downforce is astonishing. This is less to do with the rear wing and more to do with the diffuser under the body which creates more sucking at the front.
The Vulcan comes equipped with Micheline pilot sport cup 2 tyres and 3 power modes which range from 550bhp, 675bhp and the the monstrous 820bhp. Even when pushed into full force the car feels stable, handles way and cruises smoothly. You can feel the power emitting from it though and it creates some fantastic sounds.
Rev the engine enough and you’ll see bright orange flames whooshing out of the exhaust which is quite a sight to behold. This is the car for champions.
Visually the Vulcan is extremely pleasing on the eye with it’s sleek bonnet, it’s sweeping curves, that shapely rear win and it’s low skirts. It looks ever inch a racing car, even though it’s not exactly a genuine race car. This is certainly more futuristic looking than Aston usually produce. They tend to stick with a classic look, but this is different. It’s edgy, it’s fast, it’s sporty and it has the stealth of a fox and the strength of a T rex! This is a car that is getting everyone excited and not just your usual bog standard Aston Martin consumer. Vulcan is the word that’s on everybody’s lips right now.
