Car brands do like their concept cars, mostly they get no further than the concept board and an artist representation of what it could look like if it were to actually get any further. However Citroen’s new DS luxury offshoot ‘E-Tense’ have made a pretty big statement with their new all electric 400 bhp performance GT unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show. The e-motor and lithium ion batteries positioned beneath the exquisitely detailed carbon fibre chassis delivers a cool 396 bhp. With a top speed of 155mph, the tires are capable of pushing the substantial 1,800 kg of E-Tense from 0-62 in 4.5 seconds and the rear wheels receive a robust 381 lb of torque.
With the braggadocio of a low centre of gravity to hold you fast to the tarmac and the aerodynamics being increased by the flat underbody and carbon fibre diffuser, this environmentally friendly supercar will stand up against its petrol guzzling counterparts.
The exterior has an auspicious inspiration derived from luxury watches and jewellery and is packed with LED’s to make it sparkle like a gem. The jewel like quality is carried through in the sleek diamond like lines of the body and the sharp angular precision of this uniquely stunning motor. Also taking inspiration from the vintage 1955 DS there are integrated indicators in the roof and full LED’s at the rear.
With cars that look like this fully electric supercars really could be the thing of the future… oh could they? What do you think?
