This video features a frozen fish straight out of the freezer perform an amazing feat. Freddo the fish is placed into water and after sometime becomes reanimated and starts to swim round the bucket!
Many have questioned the authenticity of the video, but here at Mens Stuff we have concluded that this is probably an evolutionary trait. Fish in the wild will often come into contact with icy cold waters and we reason that they must go into a state of hibernation until they are swept to warmer seas.
One of our team once had a pet tortoise that dug itself deep down into the earth one winter. Then the UK was struck by the most bitterly cold winter on the scale. Concerned for Frederick’s welfare, we dug him up only to find he was completely frozen. Knowing that tortoises hibernate, we bathed him in desperate hope, slowly raising the temperature of the water bit by bit so as not to shock his system. After a short while, Frederick stirred and was back to his bonny self! Therefore, we are pretty sure this video is genuine, but we don’t recommend testing this one at home. Whilst this may happen naturally in the wild, subjecting a fish to such an ordeal is inhumane and not fair on the little lad.
