“What an excellent day for an Exorcism”
With decades of rich history the war between the Demon and the Exorcist is well publicised , however when the 1973 film ‘The Exorcist’ came out I don’t think anyone quite expected it to be a war between cars by 2017. The battle lines have been drawn however between the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon and the Hennessey Exorcist. Before the Demon could even be released the Exorcist was ready to cast it out having been released first in answer to the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles month long US publicity campaign. These arch rivals are set to go head to head in the world of supercharged straight line production muscle cars.
Based on the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 the power in the Exorcist has been dramatically increased to 1,000 HP compared to the Demons 840 HP , with numbers like these the devilish Demon appears to be on the ropes. The Exorcist will take you from 0-60 in less than 3 seconds as will the Demon so maybe it’s not out of the race yet.
Both are beautifully designed beasties and though not for the faint hearted they still possess a certain graceful elegance in their conception. The Demon is set to have drag race specific tuning whereas with the Exorcist drag race enthusiasts can add the Drag Race Pack for 20in drag radical tyres.
Aesthetically the Demon looks like you would expect a hot rod to look with its mean looking air scoop (the largest ever hood scoop to actually be functional) whereas the Exorcist is almost a family sized sports car.
Both look like they would be just as content on a drag strip as the open road and have both raised the bar on street legal muscle cars. So who will win in this age old battle between so called good and evil? I guess we will have to wait for the Demon before making that decision.
