Faster than any land mammal, faster than a Koenigsegg – is it a bird? Is it a plane? No it’s the monstrous Hennessey Venom. In these three videos you can find out how the Venom won the title of The World’s Fastest Car. This isn’t a car you can race on the roads for a speed test, you need a run way. So to make this happen the crew had to travel to Nasa’s airbase to find out how fast this car really is! There is a pretty strict criteria and the rules state that no serious modifications may be made, tyres must be D.O.T standard and the speed must be measured by a testing agency of motorised vehicles. The car must also run the track twice and in opposite direction’s to obtain an accurate result.
There were high hopes for the Venom – after all it’s packing a punch with 1451bhp which is all down to it’s Twin Turbo dual stage fuel system. All combined in a V8 1.8LT engine – this baby is flying! In fact you’ll notice that in the first video the cameras can’t keep up with this super car and it zooms off into the distance!
It should come as no surprise then that the Venom came in faster than it’s predecessor the Koenigsegg and clocked up an astonishing top speed of 270.49mph! They say that with great power comes great responsibility and for anyone fortunate enough to ever drive one of these amazing super cars, you need to possess a certain amount of will power to keep to the speed limit. After all the Venom is capable of veering off into oblivion and into the nearest tree in less than 2.7 seconds, with this being the amount of time it accelerates from 0-60.
