Hôtel Metropole is an exquisite retreat on the french riviera in Monte Carlo, the home of Formula One and some of the world’s most prestigious casinos.
Stroll around and you will witness dazzling supercars worth millions of pounds and super yachts down on the marina.
The glamorous 5 star Hôtel Metropole is set in Monte Carlos Golden Square and the most esteemed property in the world. Dating back to 1886 the hotel exudes luxury and is fitted with Renaissance artwork, oriental rugs and chandeliers dripping in diamonds.
You would be forgiven for expecting a hotel of this calibre to have a somewhat snooty attitude, however this could not be further from the truth and you’ll find a humility and low key vibe which is refreshing and inviting. This is a surprising and welcome discovery when you consider that the establishment is frequented by A listers and royalty.
The bedrooms are based on French period designs with Louis XVI pieces and provide a winning combination of glamour, style and comfort. We upgraded to the Presidential Suite and were blown away by the aromatherapy shower. Having a blissful stream of water soaked with essential oils rain down upon you lifts the senses and invigorates every aspect of your being. We headed out on the balcony afterwards to soak up the astonishing views of Monaco and it’s stunning rocky mountains.
There are a total of four restaurants to choose from and all are overseen by Michelin chef Joël Robuchon, who was voted “Chef Of The Century” by Gault et Millau guide. His signature dish pommes puree, an exquisite creamy mash is world renowned and guests travel from all over the world to sample his caramelised truffle and quail and seabass with clam dishes. The menu is absolutely devastatingly delicious on the tastebuds and we were in absolute heaven.
The hotel also houses a 5 star pool designed by Karl Lagerfeld. In a collaboration with Jacques Garcia and Joël Robuchon the three created Odyssey, an outdoor restaurant and stylish pool side area that screams sheer opulence and is surrounded by luscious gardens.
If you are visiting Monte Carlo you wont find anywhere more ostentatious and yet so wonderfully relaxed.
