Are you sitting down? Here is some thrilling news, drumroll…..!
McLaren have developed a new P1 for the road – named the McLaren P1 LM, a tribute to the epic McLaren F1.
Now, in charge of this baby is Lanzante who have been giving this model an overhaul. If you are thinking to yourselves ‘who?’ Lanzante was responsible for Le Mans 1995 victory. In the past they modified 5 GTR’s into LM’s and are now doing exactly the same with the P1.
Lazante has proudly announced that this LM is set to be “the quickest, rarest and last of the P1 variants”. Oh dear, we think we need to change our pants, the excitement is just too much!
So, you might be wondering what is so different about the LM. Get comfy and we’ll reveal all! It’s a bit of a little speed demon which is undoubtedly down to it being an incredible 60kg lighter. They’ve pulled out the air jacks, implemented lightweight seats and stripped it right down.
The powertrain combines a 3.8 ltr twin turbo engine and electric motors which altogether gives the LM a total of 986bhp. It’s downforce is pretty spectacular which is thanks to it’s shapely rear wing, dive planes and front splitter which increase it’s downforce by 40%.
Carbon features throughout as to be expected. Now a few cute little additions have been thrown in for those who enjoy keeping hold of a few mementos long after they replaced their car with a newer version. With this comes a car cover, a tool kit which you can keep in your boot for emergencies and even a tiny model of your new car.
It looks like only 5 of these will be produced in a dazzling orange and one in a more conservative grey.
It looks more compact than it’s predecessor and we love it’s low suspension and front splitter. We love that aerodynamic look and this one has plenty of specs appeal! How does the LM weigh up against the P1 for you?
