Those pesky archaeologists never learn do they? Whilst excavating on an expedition in in Egypt, a team of palaeontologists stumble across an ancient burial ground and discover a rather fascinating sarcophagus. Naturally they decide to interfere with it and take back to their aircraft. Before too long it seems that they have unwittingly released some kind of unknown force and ancient evil and unleashed a primeval God upon mankind. If only they had seen the original Mummy film – they would have known not to meddle with ancient relics. No good can ever come of it!
The Goddess is none to pleased at having her deep slumber interrupted and her wrath is unstoppable. Nick Morton (Tom Cruise) is mid flight when a swirling cloud of bats appear before the window of the pilots control panel. The bats swarm and smash straight through the flight deck windows and all hell breaks loose. The surge in air pressure causes the craft to violently tear to pieces and it spirals rapidly towards the ground with Tom Cruise ready to face his maker.
However, Cruise is spectacularly unstoppable himself and he later awakes in a morgue – having been presumed dead and rips his way out of a plastic body bag.
Next we are treated to the vision of a half naked and exotic but formidable Goddess walking the earth – hellbent on reclaiming her former power. We are pretty sure that Cruise has his hands full with this one and it looks to be a great action adventure. We like the fact that this reboot of the Mummy has a more modern feel to it which should make it very different from the original.
Coming 2017. It should be a great year for movies!
