The New Big Boot Panamera Is Here

Shooting brakes have become very fashionable recently and when you look at the Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo you can understand why. Arguably better looking than the normal Panamera, which has always divided opinion, this we think, is one good looking car.

If you are a petrolhead love your Porsche, but you need a little more space than a 911 with kids in tow, but you don’t want a 4×4 or to be boring, this looks like the car for you!

However moving away from its pretty looks is the Sport Turismo any more practical?

It is actually exactly the same size as the new normal Panamera, the new Panamera is in essence 35mm longer, 5mm wider and 5mm taller than the original car. The new car is a big improvement on the original car anyway, so what more does the Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo offer other than good looks?

It has 520-litres of storage space (425 litres in the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid Sport Turismo due to its battery storage space). Interestingly though this is only 20 litres more than the normal car. So not really challenging real Estate cars, yet if you fold the seats down it increases to 50 litres and when everything is folded to the floor it increases further to 1,390 litres. Realistically what are you going to need to transport in that space in such a luxurious manner?

Seating is described as 4 +1 a central rear seat for the first time in a Panamera, though you can order it as a 4-seater.

A new high rear spoiler with an active wing element sits above the rear window, spoiler angles change depending on speed and vehicle settings. It can generate up to 50kg of downforce, but generally it is tucked away to save on drag and fuel.

The Sport Turismo will come in the following line-ups:

  • Panamera 4 Sport Turismo 330hp from £73,017
  • Panamera 4 E-Hybrid Sport Turismo 462hp from £83,288 claiming 56g/km and 113mpg
  • Panamera 4S Sport Turismo 440hp from £93,979
  • Panamera 4S Diesel Sport Turismo 422hp from £97,067 managing 42.2mpg
  • Panamera Turbo Sport Turismo 550hp from £117,247

All have Porsche Traction Management all-wheel drive. S models have adaptive air suspension for variable ride height.

So not really a serious, estate, but a luxurious good looking continental tourer, giving you extra space for those family driving vacations.

Sounds like a perfect car for a grand tour to us!
