New Elden Ring Update Lowers DLC Difficulty

FromSoftware has just released a fresh update for Elden Ring, aimed at making the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC more manageable, especially in its early stages. Although the DLC has been lauded by critics, it has proven exceedingly tough, even for the most devoted Soulslike enthusiasts. Known for their punishing difficulty, Elden Ring and its genre seem to have pushed some players to their limits with this new expansion.

The intense difficulty of Shadow of the Erdtree has led to a wave of negative reviews on Steam. Some fans argue that the DLC is disproportionately challenging compared to the base game, while others relish the increased difficulty.

In what seems to be a response to player feedback, FromSoftware has released Update 1.12.2, now available for download. This update enhances the attack output and damage negation for the initial half of the maximum Blessing enhancements when using Shadow Realm Blessings like Scadutree Fragments and Revered Spirit Ashes. The enhancements for the latter half will progress more gradually, and the final level of Blessing enhancements will see a slight increase in effectiveness.

In essence, this update will make the early parts of the DLC and its concluding segments easier for players. Those struggling with the Divine Beast Dancing Lion boss or the final battle may find these encounters more manageable, provided they are using Scadutree Fragments.

Bandai Namco even issued a reminder to players about the importance of Scadutree Fragments, as many were not using them effectively. These collectible items, found throughout the DLC, increase damage output and resistance when used at a Site of Grace. With the new update, their benefits are even more pronounced.

The patch notes for this update also address a bug causing framerate issues due to automatic raytracing activation on PC. Players experiencing these problems are advised to disable raytracing manually. Future updates will continue to fix bugs and make additional balance adjustments.

Elden Ring Update 1.12.2 Patch Notes

– Attack and damage negation curve scaling of the Shadow Realm Blessings has been revised.
– Increased attack and damage negation for the first half of the maximum Blessing enhancements; the second half will be more gradual.
– Slight increase in attack and damage negation for the final level of Blessing enhancements.
– Calibration update can be applied by logging into the multiplayer server.

Graphics Settings (PC Version Only)

A confirmed bug automatically enables raytracing for players loading saved data from previous versions. If experiencing unstable framerate, check the ‘SYSTEM’ > ‘Graphics Settings’ > ‘Raytracing Quality’ and set it to ‘OFF’ if necessary. This will prevent automatic reactivation.
