Nintendo Switch News & eShop video

Nintendo have released a new video, showing off the ‘News’ and ‘eShop’ sections on the consoles Home Menu. The News area will display as soon as the console is switched on, or wakes up from its sleep mode, and will show users 3 News boxes to interact with. There is also a specific News button on the home menu, which takes you to a full screen of News boxes, and appears to range from links to videos, tutorials, and advertisements.

The video then flows into the eShop, and promptly informs us that you can browse, buy and download games right from your console. The eShop has categories for ‘Recent Releases’, ‘Coming Soon’, and ‘Enter Code’, as well as a search bar. The games are shown as tiles on the rest of the screen, with a price at the bottom of each one. Nintendo eShop funds can be merged between platforms, by linking your Nintendo Network ID with your Nintendo Account being used on the console. Even though some reviewers have had access to the Switch for some time now, the eShop was inaccessible, and so this is the first viewing of it for anyone with, or without, the console.
