Nissi Greek Restaurant

There are many good quality Greek restaurants in North London but Nissi is one of the very best and a personal favourite of ours here at Mens Stuff.

One of Nissi’s key features is the open kitchen at the centre of the restaurant. This allows diners to see the area where food is prepared and has the added bonus of allowing the Head Chef and owner to oversee the restaurant and ensure that everything runs smoothly and that the diners are enjoying their meals.

The quality of the food is superb and the presentation is very pleasing on the eye. On our most recent visit we enjoyed calamari and prawns to start which was exquisite! The succulent and delicious seafood certainly wet our appetite and the wait between courses was neither too long or too short. The serving staff are also highly attentive despite the restaurant always being extremely busy.

For our main courses we opted for Scallops and pork chop on the bone with cyprus chips.  Scallops can be a daring choice as it’s so easy to overcook this delicate mollusk, but having visited Nissi on various occasions we were in no doubt that they would be anything less than perfection. As expected the main courses were out of this world! The scallops were wonderfully soft and juicy and delicately flavoured. The pork chop was tender and moist and the cyprus chips were crisp on the outside and light and fluffy in the middle.

If you love Greek food as much as we do we can highly recommend the Nissi meze  – perfect for a long romantic evening or with a group of friends when time is on your side. The courses begin with small delectable vegetable dishes that get your mouth watering and the courses just keep coming! We found ourselves excited every time the waitress approached with a new dish, wondering what delights she had brought us. Later comes the tastiest of seafood dishes, followed by a selection of tender meats which are an absolute taste sensation and then beautifully cooked and fragrant fish dishes that make this North London restaurant second to none.  One little tip we would advise is to leave some room for the later courses. A couple of friends in our party ate with wild abandon and so were too full to eat anything else when the fish came out – they missed out on an absolutely gastronomical delight!

We are not particularly big on puddings ourselves, but the desserts at Nissi are very tempting.  Our party enjoyed a sweet baklava with sorbet which was divinely sweet, melt in the mouth goodness and the closest thing to a state of absolute bliss when it comes to one’s palette.

You really can’t go wrong at Nissi whatever you pick. The menu has been very carefully crafted with care and passion and the restaurant is never short of happy diners. The venue is brightly light and it’s an extremely pleasant and enjoyable night out whatever the occasion.

We will be back very soon!
