Payday 2, the first person shooter that first released on PC back in 2013, is making its way to the Nintendo Switch, due for release this winter. The game tasks you with completing heist contracts, alone or with up to 3 other players, which involve stealing money from banks, shops, casinos and armoured cars, as well as stealing art, smuggling drugs and weapons, prison breakouts and distributing narcotics.
Aside from co-op multiplayer, few facts are known about this version of the game; Nintendo have stated a “huge amount of content” would be coming later this year, however it is unclear if this will be included in the game, or be available as free/paid content at a later date.
I for one am excited for the chance to play a first person shooter on the console, and Payday 2 is a great addition to Switch’s library. The game received generally positive reviews when it launched, however had come under fire after developer Overkill introduced pay-to-win elements into the game, in the form of microtransactions that altered weapons stats.
Payday 2 is certainly a well known title now, so it’s interesting to see it being revealed a month before E3; hopefully this means there are a lot more quality third party titles due on the way.
