News has it that the 2017 Le Mans and World Endurance Championship will be using a mid engine design. Placement of the engine will allow room for a much bigger rear diffuser giving the RSR much more downforce than the present model. This will also spread the weight more effectively for better balance. In fact the new model has been given quite a bit of surgery to improve it’s capabilities and has a new suspension and a more aerodynamic design.
Frank-Steffen Walliser, head of Porsche Motorsport stated that the RSR is “the biggest evolution in the history of [Porsche’s] top GT model”
It’s also been fitted with an automatic system for emergency braking which uses radar to help racing drivers avoid collisions. The car meets all of the GT racing regulations from it’s 1243kg weigh, tail lights, LED headlights and air con system.
The RSR will be kicking off in Daytona for it’s first race at The International Motor Sports Association Championships January 28th.
