It has recently come to light that Porsche has a new project know as ‘Mission E’. Rumour has it that the latest design is already underway and may just be an electric two door coupe, but not just any two door coupe, as this is Porsche! It is looking likely that this will be a super turbo charged Porsche!
The final road edition is looking to be complete by the end of the decade in 2020.
“The Mission E could lead to a future when we need more electric cars to meet our regulations. So, you can imagine a Mission E with two-doors – the car looks great and there could be potential for a sports car,”
The Mission E concept version estimated 600bhp, a reach of 0-62MPH in 3.5 seconds and the capability of travelling over 300 miles between charges. Of course, a 2 door version is going to be a great deal lighter and may offer a higher performance so we are watching this one with interest here at MensStuff to see what transpires. Top speeds of 155MPH are the expected reach.
In a high octane race to keep up with rival brands and beat them out of the way, Porsche are considering the future of the brand and how to maintain an optimum position. Dr. Wolfgang Porsche, chairman of the board boldly stated “Even in a greatly changing motoring world, Porsche will maintain its front-row position with this fascinating sports car.”
The project is already estimated to create over 1000 jobs at Porsche which is certainly a sign of the times, showing us that the need for electric cars is immense. Fossil fuels are near to running out in the not so distant future, so it only stands to reason that electric, a far more environmentally friendly way to power our vehicles is the obvious way forward.
