HIGHLIGHTS:
– Rumors suggest the PC port for The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered has been completed since 2023.
– The PC port may be released alongside the second season of the TV series in 2025.
– Confirmation of the PC port is hoped to come later this year.

According to a notable leaker, the development of the PC port for The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered was finished several months ago. Earlier this year, PlayStation launched the remastered version of the critically acclaimed The Last of Us Part 2 exclusively on PS5, featuring graphical enhancements, cut levels, a new No Return roguelike mode, and more. However, developer Naughty Dog has remained unusually silent about a PC release for the game.

The Last of Us Part 2, initially released in 2020, was one of the final first-party titles for the PS4. The game received immense critical and commercial success, winning the prestigious Game of the Year award and selling over 10 million copies by 2022. This year, Sony released a remastered version of the game, and many fans anticipated a PC version announcement alongside it, but no such announcement has been made.

The Last of Us Part 1 was launched on PC roughly six months after its PS5 release, but no similar confirmation has been given for The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered. Surprisingly, a new report from credible insider billbil-kun on Dealabs claims that PlayStation has had a completed PC port of The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered for at least seven months. According to the leaker, development on the port began in 2021 and was completed by November 2023. The reason for Sony’s delay in announcing the PC port remains unclear, especially since 2024 marks the game’s fourth anniversary.

The leaker speculates that Sony might be timing the release of The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered’s PC port to coincide with the premiere of the second season of The Last of Us TV series, which is scheduled for the first half of 2025 on HBO. This theory aligns with Sony’s strategy of releasing games alongside PlayStation Productions projects. Since The Last of Us season 2 will cover the story of The Last of Us Part 2, releasing the PC port around the show’s debut would be logical.

Season 2 of The Last of Us is currently in production, and if everything proceeds as planned, Sony might release a trailer for the show in the latter half of the year, potentially announcing The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered’s PC port simultaneously. For now, PC players can look forward to the release of God of War Ragnarok in September 2024.
