It looks as if Sauber are on a budget this year and using slightly more sluggish (comparatively) 2016 Ferrari engines due to having to tighten their belts somewhat. On top of that they came in at tenth place in Formula One’s constructor’s championship!
Things may start to luck up for Sauber however next year as they are currently contemplating which engines to use for 2018 and one of those options is Honda. The list also includes the Motorsport Mercedes so the decision is not concrete as of yet.
McLaren opted to use Honda driven F1 cars this year and performance has decreased making them slower than their rivals. With Honda’s reputation slipping away it looks as if they are slashing their prices, which makes them affordable for even the cash strapped Sauber!
