We love Sacha Baron Cohen here at Mens Stuff Approved. He is a real comedy genius with a real vision for comedy gold. His satirical take on the world, usually under the guise of someone far less educated makes compelling viewing with spectacularly funny moments. It just goes to show, when someone under estimates you – they will often give far too much away about themselves!
As the Dictator, Cohen is hilarious and plays on the stereotypes and judgements of society. In this clip, the Dictator takes a helicopter ride on the Gotham City Tours with his personal assistance and an older American couple. The Dictator and his accomplice are both from the fictional country Republic of Wadiya – which is obviously supposedly some kind of Islamic state.
During the flight, a very innocent conversation in Wadiyan between the Dictator and his accomplice is misconstrued. Hilarity ensues as the couple suspect the two to be suicide bombers! The woman screams and the next moment the Dictator and Co are having mug shots taken!
Never judge a book by it’s cover and assume! Cohen cleverly takes a lot of political issues in this movie and mocks the media’s representation of other cultures and societies expectations, whilst providing the audience with many laugh out loud moments. This is probably one of the funniest clips from the film though and definitely worth a watch. This guy is a real comedy hero and we hope he will be making more movies very soon!
