The Jungle Book

The Jungle Book has been revamped to bring us a more energetic version of events. This time round the movie is directed by Jon Favreau Director of Ironman and features an impressive cast which includes The original Ghostbusters Bill Murray, Idris Elba and Scarlet Johansson.

If you never saw the original animated film or read the book then you might be wondering what The Jungle Book is all about. Mowgli is an orphan who is raised by wild animals. The original 1967 was intended to be purely a kids movie and focussed more on Mowgli’s relationship with the animals and his journey to leaving his animal tribe in the end and mixing with humans.

In this version a Bengal tiger (voiced by Ben Kingsley) threatens Mowgli and forces him to leave the jungle. Mowgli is assisted on his journey by Baloo the bear and Bagheerer the panther. On his journey he encounters animals of evil intent who try to force Mowgli into revealing top secret information. Whilst the original was a very light and fluffy film, this one punches with more impact and is set to be a slightly more grown up version of Jungle Book.

Indian censors have already given this movie a PG rating insisting that it is far too ‘scary’ for kids to watch without an adult present! This decision has already been mocked thoroughly on social media, causing great hilarity to ensue. This can only prove to be even better publicity for a movie which looks set to be popular with the public.
