Titanfall is making its way onto mobile devices, in the form of a real-time strategy game titled Titanfall: Assault.
Promising “agile Pilots and towering Titans”, it is described as being a “fast and fluid strategy game” that will include PvP play with leaderboards. There also appears to be a card based element to it, according to the website, which states players can ‘assemble a deck of Pilots, Titans and burn cards’ to gain powerful support on the Battlefield. This is the sort of game you’d expect to be pretty heavy on microtransactions, however given Titanfall 2’s free content, hopefully we’ll see the same outcome with this.
Titanfall: Assault will be available on Android and iOS when it launches, however no date has yet been set for when that will be. Those interested in the game can pre-register now on the official website, to receive notifications when new information becomes available.
This is not the first attempted collaboration between Respawn Entertainment, developer Particle City and publisher Nexon; they previously announced the strategic card-based battler titled Titanfall: Frontline, however it was cancelled only a few month after work had begun.
At the time of it being cancelled, Respawn admitted it’s ‘never easy’ to cancel a game, but that they were excited to use the concepts that ‘resonated with fans’ for future titles. Thankfully they kept to what they said, and we can once again look forward to a mobile Titanfall game.
