Try Kite Skiing This Winter

‘What the heck is kite skiing?’ you may ask! Kite skiing is using ski or snowboard footwear but with the added power of a kite to help you glide along. It seems this is rapidly becoming a popular sport for snows sport enthusiasts and adrenaline junkies.

Red Bull have helped this sport to gain recognition and registration for Red Bull Ragnarok will be opening in December.

 

What’s Involved? 

Skii’s will be strapped to your feet, a harness will be clipped around your waist then a kite attached. Then you just wait for a good gust of wind and you are ready to rock and roll! You are ride to roll wherever the winds may take you!

 

Is It A Hard Sport To Learn?

Anyone can kite skii but to move fluidly and effortlessly like a pro it’s going to take a lot of practise! Still, you are going to have a hell of a lot of practising as well as a few slips and falls. As they say – “If you want to enjoy the rainbow, you have to take the rain!”

There are many stunning slopes and mountain ranges across the globe where you can wonder at the beauty of the world and indulge your need for speed at the same time!

 

Pontresina is a good option with it’s large expanse of soft white snow and beautiful rising mountains. Chamonix in the north of France is also a superb choice and it’s worth visiting Hardangervidder in Norway which is the biggest high altitude tundra in the whole of Europe and probably one of the windiest making it idea for this high octane sport.
