The action game **Lost Soul Aside**, originally revealed in 2017, has re-emerged with a new gameplay clip that showcases its fast-paced action combat and unique enemy designs. Although the game still appears to be in the early stages of development and lacks an official release date, fans can rest assured that Lost Soul Aside is still on track.

A Long-Awaited Return

First announced at PSX 2017 as a PlayStation exclusive, **Lost Soul Aside** is an action hack-and-slash game developed by China-based UltiZeroGames. This will be the studio’s debut title. While details on the plot and specific mechanics remain scarce, the game has drawn comparisons to other action titles, particularly Devil May Cry, due to its combat style and aesthetic.

After its initial gameplay reveal in 2021, the game remained under wraps for three years. However, a recent showcase event by Gematsu provided a glimpse of the game, possibly a tech demo or an in-game training arena. The combat appears fast-paced and complex, with the main character displaying a variety of abilities such as summoning floating claws and teleporting, reminiscent of mechanics seen in Final Fantasy 16.

Development Focus Shifts to Next-Gen

While it is unclear how much the game has evolved since it began development in 2014, UltiZeroGames seems to have shifted focus away from last-gen consoles, concentrating solely on the PS5 and potentially a PC port. The character action genre, which Lost Soul Aside aims to emulate, has seen a resurgence with games like Devil May Cry 5 and the PS5 exclusive Stellar Blade, both of which could be considered rivals.

PlayStation’s China Hero Project

Before Lost Soul Aside took center stage, the broadcast highlighted other upcoming games from PlayStation’s China Hero Project, an initiative by Sony to support Chinese developers in creating games for a global audience. The intro showcased games such as the online third-person shooter Convallaria  and the self-proclaimed Soulslike adventure Daba: Land of Water Scar.

Previous successes from the China Hero Project include the cyberpunk sidescroller Anno: Mutationem and the VR-exclusive Immortal Legacy: The Jade Cipher, among others that have been released on both PC and PlayStation platforms.

While fans of Lost Soul Aside will have to wait a bit longer for more concrete information regarding its release date, the character action genre continues to thrive with numerous exciting titles to enjoy in the meantime.
