This American comedy drama directed by Adam McKay is based on the 2010 biographical book The Big Short and it’s been nominated for five awards including ‘Best Director’ ‘Best Supporting Actor’ Best Adapted Screenplay’ and ‘Best Picture’.
The plot starts with Michael Burry (played by Christian Bale) who learns that the US housing market is becoming increasingly unstable and predicts that the bubble will soon burst. He decides to use this knowledge to his advantage and decides to bet against the housing market which will make him a great profit. He manages to convince several investors to accept his shady proposal knowing full way which way the market is going. Soon the investors start to wise up and ask Burry to desist but he pays no need. They try to withdraw but he prevents them from doing this. It soon transpires that his fraudulent activities are so immense that they will cause complete economical collapse!
4 High finance executives then decide to enter into a conflict with the banks and challenge their greed and negligence.
This movie looks promising with it’s amazing cast of actors including:
Christian Bale, Ryan Gosling, Brad Pitt and Steve Carell.
